A Collaborative Analysis of Methods of Building Emotional Association with Food PU KE Advisor-Dr

Building a positive emotional association with food and people can help to increase people’s positive mood and guide them to eat healthier food. In summer 2014, we collaborated with researchers from the Department of Food Science and Nutrition to analyze data from an experiment to build an emotional association by watching films. Of interest was whether different types of film and food have different effects on building emotional association and if the liking for food changed after the conditioning in the experiment. In order to answer the questions, two-way ANOVA models were applied and contrasts were calculated to meet specific requirements. The results showed there is no statistical significant difference between the influences of different types of movie and food. We used ANCOVA model to examine the effects of other variables that were recorded. There was some evidence to prove that a few variables may influence mood’s change but the effects of film and food type were still not statistically significant.
